Criminal cases deal with illegal acts for which people are charged with crimes.
Civil cases generally deal with situations where one person or entity has suffered economic losses and is seeking compensation from the person or entity they believed caused the losses.What is the difference between criminal and civil cases?
A criminal case is a case brought against a person by the government, alleging that he has broken the law.
A civil case is a case brought by one person against another ('natural' persons or companies) alleging that the one has wronged the other.
So, if you steal my car and wreck it, the State will bring a criminal case against you for the crime of car theft, and punish you for doing so. I will also bring a civil case against you for the value of the car, seeking to get my money back.
