There are only a few thousand of them. I suggest you look to Property Law and Zoning with respect to the 5th Amendment's Takings Clause. In various cases people have claimed that a zoning ordinance was in violation of either the Due Process clauses of the 5th and 14th Amendment, or in violation of the Equal Protections clause of the 14th amendment, while also being a Taking. There's a ton of litigation on just this small segment. Just google: City of EuclidCan you cite some famous civil rights cases involving violation of 14th Amendment rights?
Pascha,
The 14th amendment is the peg that the Supreme Court has use to ';incorporate'; the ';Bill of Rights'; across all states. The 14th is one of the ';Civil War Amendments, i.e. 13th, 14th, 15th] These amendments changed the Constitution. Cases like Dred Scott v Sandfort were not ';overturned'; but superceded by the 13th.
The early 20th century court sought to use the Constitution as a building block for a ';national jurisprudence'; versue our federal style --- People are citizens of the nation and their states. States had power (and still do).
The 13th abolished slavery:
The 15th (1870) removed any taint to citizenship due to race or former condition of servitude.
The 14th is quite long and it vague terms have allowed much twisting of the meaning of those words in the 100 plus years since their adoption.
As noted, there are thousands of cases that cite directly the 14th amendment and cases that streached the 14th amendment to cover nearly everything.
The 14th Amendment overturned the Dred Scott Case. It was used in Brown v. Board, the Slaughterhouse Cases, and Plessey v. Furguson. The Due Process Clause was used in Roe v. Wade and Miranda v. Arizona. These are just the most famous... You might want to try looking this up on wikipedia...
