Does a soldier being deployed have to have all civil cases against him taken care of before he leaves?

I have a civil case against me for child support in the state of Louisiana and have not been served with papers. There was a court date on May 14th, but because I had not been served I did not go. Do I have to get this taken care of before I leave for the first part of my deployment in Indiana or can they still serve me and have me held accountable if I do not show for the new date even though I will be under deployment status?Does a soldier being deployed have to have all civil cases against him taken care of before he leaves?
Trust me being on service is not going to make this go away; deployment or not, you are still accountable for any criminal or civil charges filed against you.

So most likely the case will keep moving forward without you and it will be resolved in favor of the other party.

Your best option is to come forward, get a lawyer and deal legally with the court dates;

If the court dates are impossible to meet then bring evidence and make a formal request to change the dates. But remember that just ignoring the court dates, without making a formal request to the courts, it's a very bad idea.
