Can someone who only files a Civil case a yr after the fact be taken seriously?

Of course I'm talking about the Roethlisberger case.





This woman filed a civil case against him and 8 others who 'covered' it up a year after the incident happened. No prior criminal case was filed about this. Reason: She feared that she'd lose her job. So where is the 'fear' now that she's filed this frivolous civil suit against her FELLOW EMPLOYEES?





So, can someone who only files a Civil case a yr after the fact be taken seriously?

It confuses me. It's one thing if you file both (like the Kobe Bryant case) and then drop one after he pays you off in the Civil Case, but not filing a criminal complaint at all, when it's a criminal issue... It doesn't seem like everything's on the up and up. Maybe we have a Jerome Bettis type deal again.
Absolutely. Its well within the allowed time frame. She has probably been talking to a lawyer for a few months now, so we're really talking about it took her more like a couple months to take action. In sexual assult cases, that is not uncommon at all.





Now I don't know anything about the specifics of the case, but the argument that it took her time to come forward means she is lying is 100% absurd.
I could believe it.





My friend is a cop in Burr Ridge Illinois and there are a lot of Athletes who live in that suburb. Athletes get a lot of special treatment by the police. Hell last year Lance Briggs left the seen of an accident (he was likely drunk) and barely got a slap on the wrist.





Did Ben do it, I don't know. But athletes do receive special treatment and I could believe that some people may have covered it up for him if he did.
ill tell right now big ben is innocent he nor would any steelers player ever rape anyone.so get it straight the girl is a gold digger she just wants money.it'll come around and she will be the one who is lying so don't go and say ben's a bad guy becauz he isn't.
How can you take it serious when there was NO CRIMINAL COMPLAINT? I mean I can accept a Civil Case being taken seriously IF there had been a Criminal Complaint at some point. She doesn't even want a criminal complaint now, because criminal matters are harder to prove.
