How do I get detailed information about civil court cases?

Aren't these supposed to be public record?

What do I need in order to get them?

I'm trying to look up information on a court case and was wanting to see what was said and who said it. The nature of the civil suit. What did the plantiff actually sue for...

I was able to get the general stuff like the plantiff name, defendent, judge name, lawyers name, all that, but no information about the trial and what took place.

Where do I get that stuff from??How do I get detailed information about civil court cases?
Almost all documents in civil court cases are public. Normal exceptions include matrimonial and family court matters.

Ordinarily, documents such as complaints, answers and motions are in the case file in the local court house - sometimes these documents are available on line, depending upon the court system.

As to trial transcripts, those are not usually in the file, but are bought by the parties from the court reporter. If you want that level of detail, you'd have to find out who the court reporter was and purchase copies. How do I get detailed information about civil court cases?
